There is a bill making its way through the US legislature that could break the Internet. It is an over-reaching piece of legislation that gives too much power to corporate copyright holders. They could be allowed to take down websites at the DNS level without due process. Proponents of the bill and of the PIPA bill say this is to fight copyright infringement from abroad.

Vince wishes that there had been an outcry similar to the current blackout during the debate about passing the NDAA, particularly the indefinite detention provisions. Legislation that restricts our liberty and puts more power in the hands of the government isn’t new. It is disappointing though.
