SciFi Surplus #071 Heroes Council
September 13, 2008
Topics: Heroes, NBC, iTunes, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator Salvation, The Dark Knight
We’ve got a great show on the way! SciFi Surplus is all about giving you an alternative to regular talk radio. We give you timely news that you care about and discuss geeky topics from science fiction, fantasy and anything genre related. We’ll also throw in other stuff as necessary. And, of course, we try to work in as much fun as we can. Our topic in the Council of Great Relevance is the television show Heroes. Where has it been and what might get it out of the funk after the last strike-shortened season. In the news is a truce between NBC and Apple, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, the Governator, and even more Batman.
SciFi Surplus is presented by GoToMeeting. For a free trial, visit “GoToMeeting.com/techpodcasts.”

Some clarifications on my thoughts on Heroes:
-”Weak-ass powers” meant that the powers were lame, not necessarily weak. The Wonder Twins powers were not original or engaging, and Vince was correct that I was thinking of them when I wrote that.
-Sylar’s power is about being able to understand how things work. I imagine he would be able to look at any piece of machinery and know how it works, and in this case, the human brain is merely another piece of machinery which he must see/feel/experience in order to understand how it works and use that knowledge to develop that power in himself. I don’t think he ate the brains (ZOMBIE!), but had some way of understanding the inner workings of the specific brain to figure it out.
