…Now that the introductions are out of the way, Let’s get our geek on!

Warner Brothers is changing the release date for the 6th Potter film. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was expected by fans to be in theaters this November 11th. It will be pushed back to July 17th, 2009 in a move that many found surprising. Warner Brother’s president and chief operating officer, Alan Horn, says the move is ultimately the result of the writer’s strike. He says it makes the Potter franchise a stronger tent-pole than previously anticipated.

Star Trek geeks around the world can now rejoice and be parted with 2,000 dollars. CBS Consumer Products is announcing a full-size Kirk command chair complete with lights and sounds. The original series replica will be available online and in select retail outlets in time for the holiday season.

The late Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” novel series has been optioned by Universal Pictures in a seven-figure deal. The movie adaptations will begin with the first book, “The Eye of the World.” The Wheel of Time series has sold more than 44 million copies and the final book was unfinished when the Fantasy author passed away last year. Brandon Sanderson is completing the conclusion using notes and tapes left by Jordan.

Writers are now attached to the new Conan film revival. Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain are on board to fix the script for Lionsgate. The film company’s goal is to restart the Conan franchise with a 100 million dollar “R” rated project. That would be their most ambitious project ever. Neither a director nor star is a part of the deal.

Robot Chicken creator, Seth Green is expected to have a recurring role on NBC’s Heroes this season. He and friend, Brekin Meyer, will play comic-book nerds. The new season of Heroes kicks off September 22nd with a 2-hour premier preceded by a 1-hour “what’s happened so far” presentation.

The Council of Great Relevance: We run down great advice in Science Fiction from Star Trek, Dr Who, The X-Files, Star Wars, and some general genre examples.

After the Council, we talk with Christiana about her current projects, thoughts on strong women in fiction, and find out what’s next for her. We also got exclusive information for “Casey’s Cadets.”

We’ve been asking for new ideas about what to call the sloppy third part of the show and we have a couple suggestions. “knowlife” suggests:

  • the third wave
  • the last lunar bit

Also, “Marty” sends in:

  • The Sphere of Disarray
  • Cloak of Confusion
  • Entropic Interval
  • Phase Shift
  • Disjunctive Junction
  • Temporal Turmoil
  • Unreality Check
  • Chronoillogical moment

Thanks go out to Bob the writer, Nathan, Dave, Girl Friday, and special thanks to our special guest Christiana Ellis. Great job!
