Anti-witness News

Firefly to Blu-Ray

Vince: Joss Whedon’s short-lived television show, Firefly, is getting ready for a Blu-Ray re-release. The source of the information comes from Jewel Staite, who says she was asked to record new commentary for the project. Jewel Staite, known to Firefly fans as Kaylee, is currently starring in Stargate Atlantis as Doctor Keller. She says the commentary will be recorded in spring but there is no information just yet about a release date for the Blu-Ray Firefly box-set.

Jericho on Comcast?

Casey: The effort to save Jericho continues as, Executive Producer, Carol Barbee, looks to Comcast Cable. Anonymous insiders are saying that Paramount is negotiating with Comcast about the fate of the show. It’s unclear what format the program could take on under these circumstances. Jericho has endured poor ratings and has been canceled twice.

Lucas Sues Stormtrooper-wear Maker

Vince: George Lucas is suing a maker of Imperial Stormtrooper armor. Andrew Ainsworth created and designed the helmets for the original 1977 Star Wars movie and has been selling replicas from the original molds ever since. Lucasfilm has already been awarded 20 million dollars in the the U.S. and is now continuing the lawsuit in the U.K. Ainsworth claims that the copyright is his and is counter-suing for a share of the 24 billion dollars in merchandising revenue for the 6 films. Lucas maintains that the design for the helmets were designed before given to Ainsworth to construct.

Jensen Ackles in My Bloody Valentine

Casey: Jensen Ackles, from the C-W show Supernatural, is close to being the start of My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The movie appears to be a more thoughtful remake of the early 80s slasher flick and has a completely different premise. Ackles character, Tom, returns home to find that he still wants for his first love and becomes a murder suspect. Production is scheduled for January of 2009.

Short Circuit Remake

Vince: The 80s romantic comedy Short Circuit will be new again. Dimension Films has acquired the rights to a remake and the original writers are on board to work a new script. Short Circuit is expected to be a family film about a military robot that is struck by lightning to get a conscience and personality.

Extra Hour of Lost?

Casey: TV Guide is reporting a rumor that there may be an extra hour of the not-so-deserted-island drama Lost to air this season. We have been told to expect 5 new episodes beginning on April 24th but ABC may agree to a sixth. There are no details about how they would fit an extra hour in or how it will impact the season finale on May 22nd.

You make a fantastic point! Basically, here’s the deal. The making of this list provoked my interest to watch Andromeda. I am getting close to the end of season 2. I expect that I will be talking quite a bit about Andromeda on the show. Rommie is way cool. :)

  4. Elisa Says:

OMG OMG new Firefly DVDs coming?! Blue-Ray or just a “special edition” DVD boxset… either way, I’m buying it. And if it’s Blue-Ray, it might just be the reason to consider buying a Full HD TV and Blue-Ray player :D

  5. Elisa Says:

    And by Blue-Ray I ment Blu-Ray. D’oh.

  6. Casey Says:

It will be a Blu-Ray release. :) I’ll have to make sure I buy a player before then.
