I think they’re all cylons…. that’s right there are no humans in the show the Humans fled eons ago leaving the cylons alone in their corner of the universe. Suddenly without a purpose the cylons are left without a purpose and since they can’t find the real humans they make humans to simulate the humans fleeing the cylons to find where the real humans fled to.

  2. Casey Says:

That is amazing!! We’ll see how your theory pans out in season 4.

  3. DarthByron Says:

Alright, Alright! I’m so sorry about the Boston Legal thing. Gosh!

Star Trek is my number two! So I hope I’m at least sorta on your good side, Stephanie! Star Wars just barely beats it out. In my book. I’ll be sending in my list soon.

  4. DarthByron Says:

What is everyone’s deal with Voyager! Hello! Seven of Nine! I mean really. OK I agree the first part of the series wasn’t good but It got really cool with the Borg.

  5. Stephanie Says:

    DarthByron:

Number 2 DOES put you on my kind of good side- not perfect, but it will do. Make sure you get your rankings in soon!

My deal with Voyager is that I HATE Janeway with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. I had been SO psyched to have a female captain- and then she was so, painful that it hurts my soul.

Rock on Stephanie! Star Trek has become part of our culture in a way no other SciFi has. Also, while TOS may look silly today when taken in the historical context of the 1960s it was far more cutting edge (for its time) than Battlestar Glactica is today. Not to mention that I’ve yet to see a space shuttle named Firefly or Galactica or some such thing! I gotta tell you though, I like Janeway even though I didn’t like Voyager.

Folks, I’m a curmudgeon. In fact I’ve been thinking about leaving a voice mail with a Harlen Ellison style rant on why everyone referring to Battlestar Galactica as the best SciFI series ever makes my head want to explode! Now that said, I enjoy the show immensely and have been following it all along but since TV SciFi is written by TV writers and not SciFi writers I expect some sort of Sopranos style cop-out. I envision them arriving at Earth, some of the main characters gazing out at our cozy little world and giving a we made it speech…then rolling credits.

  7. DarthByron Says:

Ok Stephanie, I’ll give you that about Janeway. Yeah she was really annoying. But wasn’t the rest of the show ok? I really enjoyed it’s spin on things. I am way facinated with the Borg too and it did some cool stuff with the Borg. I read The two book series on Voyager called Homecoming and The Farther Shore and it explains a lot about the Borg and how the queen works. It kind of cleared up one thing about the Star Trek universe that bugged me: Picard killing the Queen in First Contact and Janeway killing the Queen in Endgame. It’s cool!

  8. Chuck Says:

Knowing the style of one Ronald D Moore; you have to expect something crazy. Honestly what would blow your mind? I have few theories one the final Cylon, Ellen, Adama’s dead ex wife Carolyn, or Billy. I name these three because our sleepers were in high positions, self destructive. Ellen and Saul had a healthy appetite for each and no kids? Carolyn and Adama had two boys, thus making Apollo the first hybrid? And Billy who thinks he loved Dualla? Now hear this, what if the leader was not Roslin, but Starbuck? If you know why I say this you’ll know your BSG. Love the show guys keep it up.

    Chuck

  9. Casey Says:

Cog: Send in the voicemail. :)

  10. Aaron Says:

Just wanted to say that I think the talk about genre stuff from outside the U.S. was great, Stephanie mentioned that thing vince liked that was Russian….It’s called night Watch, I haven’t read the books, but the movies are truely spectacular with mind-blowing special effects. There are two so far and I gather there may be a third in the works. These movies are so Cool!

Also, from Great Britan, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchet is huge, and, to my understanding was very popular over there before Harry potter. We’re talkin’ like twenty some books, two role playing games, text based online games, maps…Geektastic! Check it out.

  11. Cogitator X Says:

Maybe when Galactica gets to Earth the colonists will have super powers like in Casey’s Classic BSG 1980.

  12. lizzie Says:

Am I the only one who loves all of Star Trek, even the silly story lines that got Enterprise cancelled?

    Star Trek all the way!

Of course, there have been a few other good shows over the years, minor things like Star Wars, LOTR, Terminator - that may have caught my attention but Star Trek is timeless in all its incarnations. IMHO

  13. MAJ Woods Says:

    Casey,

First, I love your show. Steph, I couldn’t stand Janeway either, especially with that silly 19th century, polygamist hairstyle she had. Arrgh.

    However,
You and your crew have totally discounted Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s huge influence on scifi, especially in Great Britain from the 60s to the late 70s. These guys brought us UFO, Joe-90, the Thunderbirds, Space 1999 and others. While you mention the franchise of Joss Whedon, the Andersons have been around a lot longer, and revolutionized special effects and sci-fi for television, even before Star Trek. Ironically, the Anderson’s fell victim to the same Fox-like attitudes as Joss did, show being cancelled well before their prime, such as UFO and Thunderbirds.

Guys, I love your show, but sorry to say, its only the english speaking countries that have produced some of the greatest scifi epics. It has nothing to do with “ignorance” but its just that the US and UK have had the resources to make such great scifi…plus free, democratic nations tends allow the expression of imagination and fantasy more easily, than say Saudi Arabia or Indonesia. Don’t get me wrong, if Finland made a great scifi show, I’d watch it! (with subtitles!)

Finally, I will submit my SciFi 16, but Steph is right, Star Trek is far superior than Harry freakin’ Potter. Sorry, Vince/Casey, I just cannot stand Harry Potter…I feel better now that I have vented my spleen on that one. The cultural impact of Star Trek overwhelms the Potter series by a high margin.

Guys, thanks for a great show!

    Paul

P.S. What the heck do you all look like? I can’t relate to caricatures. Sorry.
