SciFi Surplus Podcast #025
March 22, 2008
Welcome to show number 25. Thanks for taking time to listen to us. Casey is sick as a targ, so Dan and I are taking over the controls for this very abbreviated episode of SciFi Surplus. SciFi Channel announced it’s new shows this week, and Bionic Woman is officially done. But before we get started, Casey wanted me to make certain that I mention that we’re doing two shows a week now. This one, classic SciFi Surplus, and our spinoff, The Council of Great Relevance. Well, look at the time, this show can’t be abbreviated if we don’t get started, let’s get our geek on.
Anti-witness News

Dan: Science Fiction Icon, Arthur C. Clarke passed away early Wednesday at his home in Sri Lanka. Clarke had been suffering with post-polio syndrome since the 60s and succumbed to breathing problems at about 1-30 in the morning. Clarke is best known for his novel, “2001: A Space Odyssey,” which he adapted with Stanley Kubrick for the 1968 motion picture.

First is “True Believer” - where a comic book geek hires a former superhero to teach him about fighting crime.
Up next is “The Stranded” - which is a joint effort between the SciFi Channel and Virgin comics. No real details about this one except it starts out with the premise, “what if your entire life was a lie?”
They’re also planning a 6 episode miniseries titled “Alice in Wonderland” - it will use the same creative team as Tin Man.
And finally, “Deputized” - a man travels the galaxy fighting crime after he is fitted with an alien exoskeleton that can’t be removed.
Yelchin to play Reese in T4
Dan: Anton Yelchin is in negotiations to play Reese in the next Terminator film. Reese was the character who traveled back in time in the first film, saved Sarah Connor, and subsequently fathered John Connor.

OK guys…You tease us with the mention of a second show a week then don’t tell us where or when to access it…Who do you think you are? CBS?
Seriously have searched high and low and can find no other reference ANYWHERE to The Council of Great Relevance podcast…Where is it?

It’s “SciFiSurplus #024 Council” on iTunes. It comes out through the same feed that brings you the regular show. A good way to find all the councils would be to sort by length—the current plan is to keep the councils to one hour, while the regular shows are always 20-40 minutes.
