Bruce Willis has been cast in Disney’s upcoming Surrogates film, according to Variety. The movie is based on Robert Venditti’s graphic novels about a not-too-distant future where people link into androids and use them to live their lives.

Throughout 2004, beginning in January and ending around August, the tiny Italian village of Caronia was plagued by a series of mysterious fires. During the outbreak it was described that appliances would spontaneously combust. Nobody has been able to identify the source of the fires. Until now.
A report commissioned by the Italian government, undertaken over the course of two years, with the participation of dozens of experts, including a NASA scientist, at an estimated cost over 2 million dollars, has come to the obvious conclusion: the fires were started by arsonists from space.

According to Variety, during the strike J.J. Abrams will continue to direct Star Trek XI. However, he won’t allow any script rewrites.
Abrams said he would honor his contractual obligation to work as a director on the pic but would render no writing services. And in his downtime, he plans to spend time on Melrose Avenue joining such chants as “Who’s got more money than they can count? Paramount.”
“If I didn’t stand with my fellow writers, I’d feel it in my gut,” Abrams said.
Kurtzman and Orci completed the second draft of the script in early October.
