Sundance Film Festival Sci-Fi Releases

  November 29, 2007

Sundance Film Festival Marquee

I looked outside and noticed it’s looking a little less like Arrakis and a little more like Hoth. That’s when I realized: the Sundance Film Festival’s coming! We at SciFiSurplus have assembled our crack team of researchers to search through the Sundance catalogs and find those films that are of most interest to you, the discriminating science fiction, fantasy, and horror fan. And just like in years past, there are some real gems coming to the Festival this year. All of them are World Premieres except for "Diary of the Dead," which, as we mentioned before, premiered in Canada.

You’ll find our picks after the jump. If you think we missed anything else, just let us know, and we’ll add it to the list!

Journeyman Is Dead?

  November 29, 2007

Kevin Falls, the producer of Journeyman, doesn’t think it’s likely that the show will get picked up to finish the season. Most important part of the interview is about how Journeyman is not based on Time Travelers Wife, and how Kevin Falls has never even read the book.

Their village elders warned them about alien wreckage scattered among the hills near their village. So Anoko Mega and his friends did what any self-respecting 20-something would do. They went searching for it. They found a World War II B-24 Liberator instead.

Reviews: “Futurama: Bender’s Big Score”

  November 28, 2007

VINCE: Futurama: Bender’s Big Score” has its share of good moments, especially the scene at the beginning where they take the Fox executives to task for canceling them. Unfortunately, they just try to do too much. There are worse episodes, “That’s Lobstertainment” comes to mind. But, you should go out and buy it because it’s been more than four years and they need to keep making more. As you know, you have to stay up half the night watching the DVD extras of the new Futurama you have, not the new Futurama you want.

CASEY: I have been waiting for this day for a very long time and I have finally watched brand new Futurama! The story itself was on par for the franchise but the real gems are in the special features. The math lecture is great and comic book reading is fantastic! I also thoroughly enjoyed the full length episode of “Everybody Loves Hypnotoad.” I’m not your typical viewer but there are some jokes if you just keep watching. The reason that we should buy this DVD is because we need to make the industry know that we want shows delivered in this straight-to-DVD format and it can be successful. If the powers-that-be know that people will buy DVDs, then our shows don’t have to be left to chance with the networks.
