Diary of the Dead … Part Two?
October 31, 2007
We complete our Halloween Zombie Stories trifecta with word from the Hollywood Reporter that George A. Romero, the father of all Zombie movies, is now green-lighted to add yet another Zombie flick to his famous Trilogy of the Dead series (now known simply as the “Dead Series”).
The fifth film of the Dead series, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, is named “Diary of the Dead.” It follows a group of film students as they make a documentary about their experiences during a zombie attack. The as-yet-unnamed sixth film will pick up right where the previous movie leaves off, according to THR, and will follow the survivors to a remote island where they will — you guessed it — fight more zombies.
Number six is still a long way off, though. THR says that photography won’t begin until this spring.
The Dead Series begins with the classic “Night of the Living Dead,” later moving on to do “Dawn of the Dead,” “Day of the Dead,” “Land of the Dead,” and now “Diary of the Dead.”
The venerable “Shaun of the Dead” is practically a monument to Romero. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are huge Romero fans, even appearing as extras in “Land of the Dead.” (They’re the two zombies chained up to the photo booth so that kids can get their picture taken next to them and pretend to be scared.)

Trifecta? I only count two stories. There’s a possible trifecta in play though. I’ll go seek out something zombie.

I guess I reached a little far when I considered Scott wishes to raise the dead? a zombie-related story. My bad.
