Kevin Smith Directing Heroes

Kevin Smith has signed on to direct one of the episodes of Heroes Origins.  The six episodes will air through April and May of 2008.  Each episode will focus on someone discovering their new powers.

Watchmen Cast

Zack Snyder announced the cast of the upcoming Warner Brothers adaptation of Watchmen at the San Diego Comic-Con last week.

Playing the film’s core group of “masks,” the masked adventurers at the center of the story, are Malin Akerman (THE HEARTBREAK KID) as Laurie Juspeczyk, aka Silk Spectre; Billy Crudup (THE GOOD SHEPHERD) as Jon Osterman, aka Dr. Manhattan; Matthew Goode (MATCH POINT) as Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias; Jackie Earle Haley (LITTLE CHILDREN) as Walter Kovacs, aka Rorschach; Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TV’s GREY’S ANATOMY) as Edward Blake, aka the Comedian; and Patrick Wilson (LITTLE CHILDREN) as Dan Dreiberg, aka Nite Owl.

Gavin Hood has been chosen to direct the upcoming X-Men spinoff Wolverine.

Continuum Release Pushed Back

The release date for the direct-to-DVD film Stargate: Continuum has been pushed back to Fall of 2008.  Reportedly the delay is to allow more time to improve the visual effects and to allow for more marketing.

Cloverfield Teaser PosterLast week at the San Diego Comic-Con J.J. Abrams revealed the movie poster for his upcoming monster movie that has been codenamed “Cloverfield.”

“I want a monster movie,” Abrams told a crowd of more than 6,000 in the San Diego Convention Center. “I want a great monster movie. … We need our own monster. … We love Godzilla. But I wanted something that was just insane and intense.”
